Tidbits

Things I've learned over the past month...

-Driving with a screaming baby in the back of the car is stressful. I used to think that parents could turn up the radio and basically pretend the crying isn't happening. Not true. And the baby will inevitably start crying when you are (1)stopped in traffic during rush hour, (2)no where near an exit or rest stop, (3)when the only radio station coming in is playing some horrible One Direction song that already makes you want to jump out of the car, or (4)all of the above.

-Moving to the back seat to sit near the crying baby will not soothe her or make her happy. In fact, seeing your face will make her even angrier that you are not getting her out of her car seat. She will probably become so mad that she will kick you in the eye and knock out your contact lens making the drive home even more fun.

-If your baby decides to blow through her diaper at Fenway Park, there is a mother's room on the upper level that is clean, has a nice fold down changing table, and a rocking chair to hold your diaper bag. Thanks Fenway!!

-You can buy all sorts of toys and baby friendly snacks and your child will only want to eat the cat's tail, your nose, the cat's face, grass, and her new shoes.

-Our list for packing for our family vacation is 3 pages long and 2 1/2 pages are just for Gabriella. I was looking at it this morning and for whatever reason, thought of the settlers packing up their covered wagons and something tells me they just threw their kids in the back and hit the trails. No, "Oh my God we can't forget the overnight diapers!!" and "She definitely needs the fan for some white noise" and "We can NOT forget the bottle warmer". Sigh. Gone are our carefree days.

We are off for a week of sunshine, sand, and relaxation!!  When we return we'll have a 10 month old and lots of photos to share.

xo,
Mary
